Quercus nigra, commonly known as water oak or American black oak, is a large deciduous tree species native to the eastern and southeastern regions of the United States. It can grow up to 30 meters tall and reach a width of 24 meters. It has a deep and extensive root system. It can adapt to different soil types but prefers well-drained soils. It grows well in sunny or partially sunny areas. It can also be used as an ornamental plant in parks and gardens.
